Authorities Take Man Into Custody on Federal Charges

A SWAT team, Peabody officers and federal agents took one man into custody at a Lynn Street residence early Thursday morning.

A regional SWAT unit, Peabody police and federal agents converged on a Lynn Street residence early Thursday morning and took one man into custody.

Peabody Police Capt. Dennis Bonaiuto said the man was arrested on a federal warrant out of Boston and he wasn't authorized at the time to disclose the man's identity or address, nor the charges against him.

Bonaiuto said the arrest was made around 5:30 a.m. and authorities cleared from the scene shortly thereafter.

He said he wasn't sure how long the investigation had gone on for, but it was still ongoing.

Any further information and charges will come from the Mass. U.S. Attorney's office.

In addition to Peabody police detectives and officers, a North Eastern Mass. Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) SWAT team and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents were part of Thursday's operation.
