A Half-Dead Bat in the Sink and Injured Deer Wandering Route 1

The following information was provided by the Peabody Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following are excerpts from reports in the Peabody Police Department press log from July 16-17.

Tuesday, July 16

  • 2:02 p.m. Flavio Pacheco, 27, of Lowell, was arrested, following a motor vehicle stop on Lowell Street. He was charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, not having a valid inspection sticker and failure to display the truck owner's name.
  • 2:27 p.m. An employee at Victoria's Secret at the mall reported a past theft of 60 bras from the store.
  • 2:56 p.m. A caller reported on Sherry Lane reported he spent the night at a friend's house and found a half-dead bat in the kitchen sink the next morning. He contained the creature and then went to work. He said he returned later to find the bat had died. He didn't believe it came in contact with anyone, but agreed to take the dead bat to Borash Veterinary Clinic in preparation for testing.
  • 7:54 p.m. The Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire on Shore Drive, which just turned out to be food burning on the stove.
  • 10:57 p.m. Report of a water main break on Gardner Street. See related story.

Wednesday, July 17

  • 1:29 a.m. A caller reported there was a deer in the middle of the road on Lynn Street near Larson's Service. Police checked the area, but didn't find anything.
  • 1:31 a.m. A caller reported there was an injured deer wandering in the highway on Route 1 near Sonic. An officer and state troopers responded to the scene. State police handled the incident.
