A 76-year-old man was taken to Mass. General Hospital Sunday morning after a car crashed into a utility pole on Lake Street.
The crash was reported around 10:46 a.m. near 30 Lake St. and the intersection with Lowell Street. According to reports, part of Lake Street was temporarily closed due to the accident scene.
The vehicle was a brown 2000 Plymouth Neon with a dog inside. An animal control officer took custody of the dog. It was unclear from the initial report whether anyone else was involved in the crash other than the man.
The car was towed from the scene, having sustained considerable damage to the front-end. Peabody Municipal Light Plant also sent a crew to the scene to check the pole.
