Almost Jambo Time

Ten boys from Boy Scout Troops 119 and 59 from Peabody will be attending the 10-day National Jamboree at the Bechtel Summit Reserve in WV.

Rich Lynch, the Scoutmaster from Troop 119 will be leading one of the two troops sent by the Yankee Clipper Council, Jody Barden from Troop 59 will be an Assistant Scoutmaster.

The contingent of 80 will be leaving Saturday July 13th by bus for the Jamboree.  Stopping for a day of sight seeing in Washington DC, they will arrive at the Jamboree on Monday July 15th.  During the 10-day event, Scouts will participate in activities ranging from aquatics, mountain biking, shooting sports, and white water rafting just to name a few.

The National Scout Jamboree occurs every 4 years where Scouts from across the nation and other countries gather.  This is the inaugural Jamboree at the new permanent home.  The boys and leaders have been planning this trip for over a year.
