2nd Annual Snowshoe Classic at Brooksby Farm

The 2nd Annual Snowshoe Classic is a 5K snowshoe/trail race at historic Brooksby Farm in Peabody, Sunday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m. (registration opens 8:30 a.m.).

Join us on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 at 10 a.m. for the 2nd Annual Snowshoe Classic at Brooksby Farm.

This event is being coordinated by the city of Peabody and is open to the public, all ages.

Complimentary food and drinks and restrooms will be available post-race in the Brooksby Farm Greenhouses. The race will meander for roughly 5 km through much of Brooksby’s 250 acres of orchard, farmlands and trails. The terrain will be moderate. Entry and raffles prizes will be included and additional prizes will be given out to male and female winners in several age categories. We are also planning to include a “couples” category for people who want to enter and compete as a couple.

Registration will open at 8:30 a.m.; 10 a.m. start.

*Entry Fee: Prior to Feb. 1, $20; after Feb. 1, $25; mailed entries must be postmarked by Feb. 1. **Entry Fees are non-refundable, snowshoe rental fee is refundable.

Course: This race will begin and end near the sales barn at Brooksby Farm at 54 Felton St. in Peabody, MA. The course will take you in and around beautiful Brooksby Farm for 5K or 3.1 miles. It will include both double and single track trails. In the event of poor snow conditions, the race will be a trail run. Decision on type of race made on Feb. 7, snowshoe or trail.

Awards: Top 3 male/female overall; top male/female 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & up, top couple. Surprise award.

Snowshoes: We will have limited amounts of snowshoes for rentals. Reservations are required. There is a $10 fee for premium snowshoes provided by Dion or $5 for Peabody Recreation snowshoes.

The first 50 registrants will receive a pair of custom-designed action performance wool socks.
