Downtown Revitalization - the People Weigh In

It was great to see a large turnout from residents, business and property owners for the first of 3 public forums to discuss the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to downtown revitalization.  While many of the comments weren't new, the feedback clearly indicated folks were interested in seeing the area revitalized and want to see more businesses, events and cultural activities to showcase their city.

The project is being funded by a grant the City received through MassDevelopment and their focus on brownfield redevelopment. The goal is to identify specific needs for the downtown as well as analyzing regional data to determine any unmet regional business needs.  The project area is the North River corridor between Main, Walnut, Howley and Central streets.

Two more public forums are planned for this summer.  It's perfect timing with the completion of the Main Street Corridor project!
