A Little Bit of Hollywood Comes to Peabody

Two local non profit organizations, the Rotary Club of Peabody and The Progeria Research Foundation, are partnering together for what must be a first in Peabody -  A red carpet presentation of the HBO's documentary "LIFE ACCORDING TO SAM" will be presented on November 2nd at Wiggin Auditorium.   The event begins a 6:30PM with a cocktail reception featuring hors d'oeuvres & cash bar, followed by the premiere of the movie and and informative Q & A session.

The Progeria Research Foundation (PRF), based here in Peabody and headed by Sam's aunt, Audrey Gordon, aims to raise $1.25 million towards identifying the gene that causes Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (Progeria) a rare, fatal genetic condition characterized by an appearance of accelerated aging in children.

LIFE ACCORDING TO SAM explores the remarkable world of Sam Berns and his family. Now a high-school junior about to turn 17, Sam embraces his circumstances with admirable courage, showing wisdom beyond his years.

Since its premiere in January 2013 at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival, Life According to Sam has had an amazing run on the festival circuit, captivating audiences across North America, including at The Rincon International Film Festival in Puerto Rico, Mountain Film Festival in Colorado, Doc Soup in Toronto, the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival and the Nantucket Film Festival.

Now you can experience it for yourself.  Admission is Free to the event, but seating is limited, for this black tie optional event.
