Praskuta "Pat" (Timocin) Makridis died Jan. 24 surrounded by her family at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a long battle with illness, according to her obituary. She was 75.
Makridis was born in Bandirma, Turkey in 1938 to ethnic Russian parents and eventually immigrated to the United States in 1973 with her husband and two children and reunited with her parents.
She worked alongside her mother in a former Peabody leather tannery known as "Charlie's" before eventually finding work as a seamstress.
Visiting hours were held Monday at Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home in Peabody and a funeral service will be held Tuesday (10 a.m.) at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church on Paleologos Street. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
