Obituary: Philip S. Lavoie, Sr., 65, Owned Headquarters Family Hair Care

Philip S. “Phil” Lavoie, Sr., 65, husband of Linda (Clement) Lavoie of Peabody, died at home with his family by his side on Friday, May 9, 2014.

Phil was born in Lynn, on December 18, 1948, son of the late Archie and Margaret (Singleton) Lavoie. He was raised in Lynn and Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School in 1968 before attending and graduating from the New England Barber School in Boston. Phil proudly served for 6 years with the Massachusetts Army National Guard.

Phil has been a barber in Peabody for the past 45 years, having founded and operated Headquarters Family Hair Care on Lake Street in Peabody for 37 years. Outside the barber shop and out from behind the chair, Phil was the proud husband of Linda Lavoie and dedicated his life to her and his children.  He was an avid golfer, car enthusiast, skier, and Harley Davidson owner, among other interests, but he found the most pleasure and fulfillment entertaining and enjoying his wife, children, granddaughter, extended family and friends.  
 
In addition to his wife with whom he shared 41 years of marriage, Phil is survived by his son, P.J. Lavoie, and his wife Karyn of Byfield, and his daughter, Lindsay Lavoie and her fiancée Peter Crescenzo of Peabody; his most precious granddaughter of 7 months, Camryn Lavoie; a sister-in-law, Joan Lavoie of Peabody; his nephew, Richard Lavoie and his wife Lisa of Byfield, his nephew, Michael Lavoie and his wife Deanna of Newburyport, his niece Karen Vallas, her fiancee Scott Scofield and great niece Casey Vallas, as well as many other extended members of family and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his siblings, Richard Lavoie, June Hurley and Carol Rappa as well as his niece Chelsea Vallas.
 
Phil’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 9 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 758 Salem St., Lynnfield. The family requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in Phil’s name to MGH North Shore Cancer Center, www.massgeneral.org/cancer , 102 Endicott St., Danvers, MA 01923.
