Georgia Pomakis, WWII Vet, Hairdresser and Teacher's Aide, Dies at 90

Death notices and funeral announcements for Peabody people for Monday, Dec. 9, 2013.

Eva L. (Shepherd) Turner, of Danvers and formerly Peabody, died Dec. 4. She was 93. Turner was an elementary school teacher in Peabody for 38 years and worked at the Peabody Institute Library of Danvers for 18 years. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements were made with the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home.

  • Georgia (Scoulogenis) (Katsoulas) Pomakis, of Peabody. Born Aug. 25, 1923, died Dec. 3, 2013. She served with the U.S. Navy during World War II as a coder and censor and was honorably discharged in 1945. Visiting Hours: Sunday, Dec. 8, 3-7 p.m. Funeral Service: Monday, Dec. 9, 11:30 a.m. at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
  • Mary A. (Paciulan) Hallinan, of Peabody. Born Jan. 1, 1961, died Dec. 6, 2013. Visiting Hours: Tuesday, Dec. 10, 4-8 p.m. Funeral Service: Wednesday, Dec. 11, 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
  • Kimberly A. Ellis, of Salem, Beverly and Tewksbury. Born Aug. 9, 1968, died Dec. 7, 2013. Funeral Service: Thursday, Dec. 12, 11:30 a.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery in Salem.
