Peabody resident Maria Mello will read from "Bird Calls," a new collection of poetry published by Four Square Press that honors the natural world, on Dec. 10 from 9:30-11 a.m.

Peabody's seniors are in for a treat!

Poet, naturalist, artist and teacher Maria Mello will read from her new collection of poems, Bird Calls, at the Torigian Community Life Center, 79 Central St., Peabody, on Dec. 10 from 9:30-11 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Insightful and delightful, Mello's poetry benefits from her careful observation during time spent outdoors. The collection is arranged in sections named for different kids of birds, with corresponding themes of longing, discovery, loss, communion and wisdom.
