The East Coast's oldest memorial park, , begins a 100-year project. The cemetery, with 80 developed acres, has begun a multi-phase development of 75,000 spaces, certainly one of the largest documented in this country.

The first phase will be a pristine 18-acre parcel that is wooded with enormous oak and pine trees. It has spectacular topography overlooking the beautiful Winona Reservoir. It will be a most challenging involvement to produce spaces for many generations to come and to preserve this incredible natural resource.

Puritan Lawn’s challenge has always been to make each section unique, to preserve the beauty of the park, and to provide affordable options for those who choose to plan ahead. The initial phase includes drawings, topos and with many hours of visualizing the end product.

The next phase will be selective cutting and earth moving. The approach will be very methodical and with the end product always in view. There is an 8-12 year projected period before the first interment can take place. This is the longest range development in Puritan’s history, which goes back 79 years.

This developement means that families can become involved at greatly reduced investment and still have the security of alternative selection and other lot owner privileges. The initial section will have 35,000 spaces and will be the backdrop for the remaining 40,000 space development. This development will gradually slope down to Winona Reservoir and a natural protected wildlife area. This development is expected to service the community for an additional century.
