Peabody Police Holiday Toy Drive Underway

The annual toy drive has been running since 1992 to collect gifts for kids who might not otherwise get a new toy for Christmas.

The annual Peabody Police Toy Drive is underway.

Since 1992, the department has partnered with Peabody agencies working to aid families in financial straits during the holiday season by collecting toys.

The gifts are then distributed to local children who might not otherwise get a new toy for Christmas this year.

Donations of new unwrapped toys can be left in a collection box in the lobby of the police station at 6 Allens Lane. Donations will be accepted through Dec. 20.

Police say the long-running program has been a "great success" and helps out families experiencing difficulties during the holidays.
