Today is Wednesday, Sept. 19. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

  1. Today's weather: Rain likely before 7 a.m., followed by scattered showers through mid morning and giving way to a gradual clearing. The high for the day is near 71 degrees.
  2. Designing video games: Have you signed up yet to design your very own video games with this free program? The three-week course is being held at the Main Branch Library in the Young Adult Room, starting Sept. 25 from 7-8 p.m. Teens will learn the basics to create a great video game and then will design their own games using Scratch software, which they will have access to later to change and improve their designs. Space is limited. You can register online here.
  3. The Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce and Mayor Ted Bettencourt will be celebrating the grand opening of a new fitness studio over at 10 Sylvan St. on Friday (10 a.m.). Get In Shape for Women says it's an upscale fitness and nutrition studio focusing on only women's health with a program for strength training, cardiovascular exercise, customized nutrition and accountability.
  4. The Holocaust Center Boston North, route: {:controller=>"listings", :action=>"show", :id=>"the-holocaust-center-boston-north"} --> is now accepting reservations for its 21st annual Human Rights Awareness Program for high school students and their teachers. The event is Oct. 23, 8:15-11:15 a.m. at
