Road closures, 9/11 anniversary and other things to know.

Today is Tuesday, Sept. 11. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

  1. The city will be milling Buford Road and Hunt Street today between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. in preparation for paving. During that time, no parking will be allowed on those streets and motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes.
  2. Today is the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11. The Fire Department and Mayor Ted Bettencourt will at 9:50 a.m. in front of .
  3. And later this evening, fallen firefighter James Rice in another 9/11 ceremony that also honors all firefighters who have recently died. The ceremony begins in Boston at 5 p.m.
  4. The winner of the Ultimate Red Sox Experience this past Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays was none other than Peabody firefighter Ron Ransom, .
