Today is Thursday, Aug. 23. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

- The free summer lunches for kids program at the ends today,
- City Council: The Peabody City Council reconvenes from its summer recess tonight, first with a Municipal Safety Committee meeting at 6:45 p.m., followed by the regular session at 7:30 p.m.
- Last summer concert: The last concert in the city's annual summer series is this Sunday with Classic Trax at the from 6-8 p.m.
- The first performer of the library’s 2012 Concert Series, Nicholas Bogosian heads to the Main Branch on Aug. 27 (7-8:30 p.m.) with some early American mountain music. Bogosian's solo style is replete with clawhammer banjo, fiddle, foot percussion and vocals. The event is funded by the Peabody Institute Library Foundation and the McCarthy Family Foundation.
