North Shore CDC Offers Peabody Home Ownership Classes

North Shore CDC and The Homebuying Mentors are once again collaborating to bring Homebuying 101 classes to Peabody in 2014. Last year, the Peabody class was sold out, serving more than 50 North Shore residents interested in Homebuying 101.

"We are very thankful [the Homebuying Mentors] came to the North Shore. We had a great time in class and learned a lot. We feel more confident in our home buying process," remarked a recent class participant. "More people need to know about this program and use it's resources…[the Homebuying Mentors] gets an A+ in our book."

Participants interested in homeownership education and personal coaching have the opportunity to attend a three-part class this March at Peabody’s Municipal Light Plant on March 4, 5, and 6th from 5:45 pm to 9:00 pm. To register or for more information visit www.thehomebuyingmentors.org. Classes are $50 pp and sponsored by Eastern Bank.

“We’re thrilled to be able to provide an opportunity for home ownership education here on the North Shore,” commented Mickey Northcutt, Chief Executive Officer of NSCDC.

Homebuying 101 takes residents through the entire home buying process and gives program participants the chance to receive expert advice from trusted professionals in the industry. Each Homebuying 101 class includes three to four evening sessions at an accessible location within the host city. Participants will complete the class within two weeks to receive a certification of completion. This certification allows participants access to first-time homebuyer loans with low interest rates and low down payments.

It also gives participants the opportunity for unlimited one-on-one coaching sessions from The Homebuying Mentors. The certificate received from completing the course is required for down payment or closing cost assistance programs that may be offered in specific cities/towns in which residents are buying.
