Peabody May See 4-8 Inches of Snow by Morning Commute

Snow is expected to blanket the area, Monday afternoon or evening and last through the night, accumulating 4-8 inches by Tuesday morning.

A snow storm may be headed for Peabody this afternoon and leave up to 8 inches of heavy snow in its wake before tomorrow's morning commute.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch, forecasting 4-8 inches of snow as temperatures drop to the low 20s with 15-25 mph winds and gusts up to 40 mph.

"There is still some uncertainty on the amounts, which will depend on the exact track of the [storm]," says the NWS.

If the storm does blanket the Peabody area, snow is expected to arrive late this afternoon or early evening and continue through the night.

Peabody may see snow showers for the afternoon, but 3-5 inches of snow tonight.

Snowfall may become heavy at times and should taper off tomorrow morning, leaving another 1-3 inches. Visibility on the roads may be down to a half mile at times.

"Untreated roads will become snow covered and slippery tonight. The Tuesday morning rush hour may be impacted," says the NWS.

Hope the plows and sanders are out earlier than last time...if not then the new super needs to delay school until the roads are safe. I know parents who are very angry about the disaster at the high school last week....couple kids fell and hurt themselves and there were several accidents. Not the mention the busses couldn't even get up the hill to the school. Guess our mayor wasn't a boy scout.

T.Grouchy...being and Eagle Scout from Troop 9 Peabody and have grown up with the Mayor - he and his sister are good people. Be more optimistic the world has enough haters. Every post is negative? Go move out of Peabody. You dont know how good you have it in Peabody. It's great city, I'm third generation and love it!

I am sure he's a good person...but what does that have to do with dropping the ball last week? I will stop complaining when he does his job...get the plows and sanders out on time or delay school. Being a "good guy" does not excuse incompetence...and, unfortunately, I believe he was elected only because people remember him as a "good guy" (and because Fitzgerald was a scary alternative).

David, there have been no announcements yet whether school will be canceled tomorrow. That's actually the case across the North Shore so far.
