Peabody Area Under Flood Advisory Tonight

Watch out for flooding in low lying or flood prone areas tonight.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for much of Eastern Massachusetts tonight, including Peabody and the North Shore.

"At 7:59 p.m. radar indicated a band of thunderstorms moving rapidly northward at 50 mph," the NWS reports. "This band contains heavy rains. The immediate Boston metro area and North Shore should expect a brief period of heavy rains, resulting in ponding of water in low lying and poor drainage areas."

The NWS says the thunderstorms should track northward into the North Shore through 9 p.m. The flood advisory is in effect until 11 p.m.
