Motorists Can Expect Slippery Conditions During Evening Rush Hour

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, predicting between 1 and 3 inches of snow, mixed with sleet and freezing rain.

Commuters should prepare for some slick driving conditions this afternoon and evening.

"Snow and ice will cause slippery driving and walking conditions on untreated roads and sidewalks. The evening rush hour is expected to be messy," says the National Weather Service.

The NWS has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, predicting light snowfall will begin after 3 p.m. in the Peabody area and turn into sleet and freezing rain tonight, sometime between 7 and 9 p.m.

The advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. tomorrow. There is a chance of freezing until mid-morning.

An inch of snow may collect this afternoon and the NWS says 1-2 inches of may accumulate tonight along with a thin layer of ice. The temperature is expected to remain around 30 degrees.

"Motorists need to be especially careful on bridges and overpasses where slippery spots can easily develop," says the NWS.
