A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 8 p.m. for the Peabody area.
A brief thunderstorm and flashes of lightning passed through the Peabody area this afternoon -- a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 8 p.m. tonight, says the National Weather Service.
Forecasts said the storms today could produce small hail, gusty winds and heavy rains, and the hail was definitely coming down in South Peabody around 3:30 p.m. when these photos were taken by a Peabody Patch reader.
