5 Things You Need to Know Today, Oct. 23

Tisei at Brooksby today, 10th consecutive season of Peabody Farmers Market wraps up and more things to know.

Today is Tuesday, Oct. 23. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

  1. Tisei at Brooksby today: Republican congressional candidate Richard Tisei, who is running against U.S. Rep. John Tierney, will be in Peabody today, visiting seniors at Brooksby Village. Tisei is scheduled to arrive at 2 p.m.
  2. Last day at the market: The Tuesday Peabody Farmers Market closes out its 10th consecutive season today. Market hours are 2-6 p.m. out in front of City Hall.
  3. School board: The Peabody School Committee meets tonight at 7:30 p.m. for its regular session at the Kiley School.
  4. Dedication of Barbuto Memorial Garden: School and city officials will dedicate a garden in memory of Christine Barbuto Thursday at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. The ceremony is at 2:30 p.m. with a reception to follow in the Melting Pot. Barbuto died aboard American Airlines Flight 11, which crashed into the Twin Towers on Sept. 11, 2001. She graduated from PVMHS in 1986. The garden project has been underway for several months and will be located in a courtyard adjacent to the school auditorium.
