Today is Tuesday, Oct. 16. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

  1. Breaking ground on Main Street: City officials will host a formal ceremony today with Lt. Gov. Tim Murray to celebrate the construction underway to reconfigure Main Street. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. in the courtyard of the Main Branch of the library.
  2. Presidential debate tonight: Starting at 9 p.m., President Barack Obama and former Gov. Mitt Romney will square off in their second presidential debate.
  3. Don't forget about the Farmers Market today from 2-7 p.m. out in front of City Hall.
  4. Tomorrow night, comic/hypotist Frank Santos, Jr. will be performing at the Peabody High auditorium to benefit the school field hockey teams.
