Twice in Two Years, Ipswich's Jim Goguen of Jim's Auto Wins Detailing Person of the Year

For the second year in a row, Jim Goguen of Jim’s Auto Installations & Detailing Center was awarded Detailing Person of the Year at the 13th annual International Mobile Tech Auto Recon Expo & Detailers Forum held in Orlando, Florida. Mobile Tech Expo is the largest international show for the appearance and repair-reconditioning professionals in the United States.

Nominated from among all detailers nationwide, and chosen for the honor from among his peers in the detailing industry, the Detailing Person of the Year is known for their contributions to the detailing industry in many ways, according to Kevin Halewood, founder of the Mobile Tech Expo. “I am not surprised Jim is the first person to win the award twice. He consistently promotes ongoing excellence in detailing, and successfully utilizes the vast network of professionals Mobile Tech supports in order to better his industry.”

The final selection for the award comes from a special committee, appointed to tabulate the votes and the winner is unknown until just a few days prior to the awarding of the trophy. Halewood personally presented him with the trophy on Friday night, January 10 as the 2014 Detailing Person of the Year.

“The most flattering aspect of winning this award is that it comes from my peers within the industry,” says Goguen, whose store, Jim’s Auto has been providing high-end automotive detailing and automotive and truck accessories for over 25 years. “I know so many of these guys because we work across state lines on shared projects. All of these guys work hard to be the best at what they do, and they are all deserving of the same recognition.”

Goguen is known amongst his peers as always searching for ways to improve communication between members of the industry; to increase awareness of the high quality of work they do as detailers; and to improve business operations in areas unrelated to detailing itself. He often connects detailers with people who can help them implement best practices, build effective websites, create media buzz, and develop ways for detailers to communicate successfully with their customers through social media, newsletters, and promotions.

Jim’s Auto has been the automotive enthusiast’s favorite toy store since 1986 when it was little more than a car audio store located inside John’s Citgo on Central Street in Ipswich. Since then, Jim’s has grown into a full service detailing shop offering a number of automotive services pertaining to the appearance and over all care and upkeep of your car or truck, located at 5 Washington Street alongside TNT Car Wash.

Jim earned a Master Detailing certification from Renny Doyle’s Attention to Details and Detailing Success, and a special certification to detail airplanes, yachts, and museum-worthy transportation collectibles and exotics. He has been a Team Leader for the Air Force One detailing projects at Seattle’s Museum of Flight for the past three jaunts, and continues to bring the most innovative equipment, products, and techniques to the automotive detailing industry.

“I just want to thank all my brothers in the detailing business who voted for me this year. I am honored by the recognition!”
