WHO:             Peabody Mayor Edward A. Bettencourt, Jr., Friendly’s CEO John Maguire, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Salem, Peabody UnitJoanne Scott, and ice cream-loving Peabody residents.

 

WHAT:            On Monday, August 12, Friendly’s on Andover St. will unveil a completely refreshed appearance and updated menu to the public. The restaurant, which originally opened its doors in 1979, is one of the first locations to take part in the company’s ongoing initiative to reposition the brand and bring it back to its roots by recreating the iconic Friendly’s dining and ice cream experience. The Friendly’s team is excited to introduce guests to a redesigned menu that features new dishes like the Slinky Dog as well as improvements on classics like the Fishamajig. In addition, the refurbished restaurants boast updated interiors and exteriors that evoke a timeless appearance that’s both bright and cheery.

 

The celebration will kick-off with the one-hour distribution of FREE sundae cups to the general public in attendance at the event. Immediately following will be visit from recently-appointed Friendly’s CEO John Maguire and Peabody Mayor Edward A. Bettencourt, Jr. who will celebrate the restaurant’s re-launch by serving guests the location’s first official scoop of ice cream. From 9:30AM-12:30PM, children can also request a FREE creation from the balloon artist and face painter.   In addition, Friendly’s will continue the celebration through Sunday, August 25, by offering $1.00 Happy Ending® sundaes to guests.

 

Friendly’s will also be donating $1.00 from every ice cream dessert sold to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Salem, Peabody Unit through Sunday, August 18. Guests are encouraged to visit the restaurant during the week and create new Friendly’s memories while supporting a great local cause that benefits the community’s youth.

MORE INFO: $1.00 from every ice cream sold at the Broadway location, through Sunday, August 18, will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Salem, Peabody Unit. Guests can enjoy $1.00 Happy Ending® sundaes through Sunday, August 25.
