This Old Window?

A PBS film crew was in town Monday to shoot a segment of this fall's "This Old House" TV series. The segment will be on the historic restoration of wooden windows.

A PBS film crew spent the afternoon at Window Woman of New England on Monday, shooting a segment for the upcoming series of “This Old House.”

The historic window restoration shop moved from Topsfield to its new home in the industrial park on Pulaski Street in Peabody this past March. On Monday, “This Old House” general contractor Norm Abram interviewed the shop’s founder Alison Hardy for a segment that focuses on the restoration and repair of historic wooden windows.

Hardy said in her blog that her shop signed on to restore 14 windows, which posed some challenges from some new rules by the EPA to the fact that the old windows don’t match the openings for the windows.

To see the end result on the windows and the house itself, tune in to the new season of “This Old House,” which premieres nationally on Oct. 6 on PBS, spans the restoration of an 18th century home in Bedford — the Nathaniel Page Homestead. The colonial post-and-beam structure dates back to 1720.

Page was the flag bearer for the Bedford militia during the Battle of Concord in 1775.

“This home has a long history and some great stories to tell,” said “This Old House” host Kevin O’Connor in a press release. “We’ll give the home some updates, an addition, and a historic facelift that would make Nathaniel Page proud.”
