State Gets More Details on Lahey, Northeast Merger

Certain key services at Northeast Health System hospitals will be kept for three years, all jobs will be retained for at least one year and the new Lahey Health System will look to expand further.

Under the , officials from both organizations are committing to retaining certain key clinical services at Beverly Hospital and Addison Gilbert Hospital for three years after the deal and all employees for at least a year, according to news reports.

The Salem News reported on Tuesday that the newly disclosed details of the proposed merger have been filed with the state Department of Public Health as part of its review. The DPH, Federal Trade Commission and the state Attorney General's office will need to sign off on the merger before it becomes binding.

The application document filed with the state calls the provisions part of a mutual understanding between and Northeast until a legally binding agreement is had, according to the Salem News report.
