PHOTOS: New Saturday Market Draws a Crowd

Fresh veggies, fruits, handmade crafts and live music highlighted a busy day on the library courtyard for the new Farmers Market.

The kicked off this past weekend with clear skies and steady customers all morning long. employees who organized the new market (an addition to the longer running Tuesday market) felt the day boded well for the upcoming market days.

Sean "Augy" Augulewicz provided musical entertainment from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and a number of artists and crafters filled out the booths. and Hereford Valley Farm sold fresh produce and Cap't Pete's Lobster Trap sold live lobsters, while the Friends of the Peabody Institute Library conducted their annual used book sale and GreenPeabody collected signatures in support of the city moving forward on a state application to become a Green Community.

The market will continue to run each Saturday from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the courtyard of the library until Sept. 17.
