Several great items will be auctioned off throughout May to benefit the chamber, downtown business community and the Peabody Education Council.

The Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its 6th annual online auction beginning this Saturday to support local businesses and the Peabody Education Council.

There will be 31 items auctioned off during the auction, which goes from May 1 through May 31, according to chamber officials. The auction is in its 23rd consecutive year and became an online auction in 2005.

Some of the items to be auctioned off include: Red Sox Team Grill valued at $400 donated by GraVoc Associates; a "Day of Beauty" donated by Wavelengths Hair Salon and Day Spa valued at $135; a three-credit undergraduate course donated by Salem State University valued at $660; two grandstand seats to the Red Sox game versus the Oakland A's on June 3 donated by State Senator Fred Berry, D-Peabody; and a two-night stay at the Cape Codder Resort valued at $350.

Chamber officials are also offering Peabody businesses the opportunity to purchase 60-day sponsorships for the auction that will give them greater visibility on the Chamber's web site. The sponsorships range from $100 to $500.

According to Chamber officials, the annual auction helps support local businesses in the city as well as the chamber to help keep membership affordable.
