National Grid Begins Work to Gas Line on Nancy Ave

National Grid began work on Thursday morning to replace and/or relocate a gas line on Nancy Avenue.

National Grid started work today (Thursday) on a gas line on Nancy Avenue that is expected to last until mid July.

Utility crews will be working on the street over the next month to replace and/or relocate a gas main. That also includes relocating service meters on affected homes and businesses to the outside of buildings. Work is starting between numbers 44 and 65 Nancy Ave. and will continue on a schedule of 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, according to National Grid.

Gas customers should expect a short interruption in service and access to their property will be needed for technicians to restore service, said National Grid.

“We apologize in advance for any inconvenience, but this project is part of our commitment to provide continuous improvements and keep the natural gas delivery system safe and reliable,” stated a press release.

Police details will be hired as necessary and the road will remain open to the public, although parking may be limited at times. National Grid said a construction foreman will be on-site to address parking needs.

National Grid said there may be delays in restoring the street and sidewalk once the work is completed, depending upon weather and ground conditions. The project is slated for completion by July 15.

Residents with any questions about the project should call Community Investment New England Coordinator John Upham at 781-907-2206.
