National Grid Begins Gas Line Work Friday on Blackstone Street

National Grid crews will be working on Blackstone Street for the next month, starting Friday, to replace and/or relocate a gas main.

National Grid will be working in the neighborhood of Blackstone Street and Stark Circle, starting tomorrow, to replace and/or relocate a gas main.

Work will begin between 2 and 27 Blackstone St.

Gas customers should expect a short interruption of service during the project, which is expected to last through Aug. 30. National Grid says technicians will also need access to the property of affected homes in order to restore gas service.

Gas meters will need to be relocated to the outside of homes or businesses.

“We apologize in advance for any inconvenience, but this project is part of our commitment to provide continuous improvements and keep the natural gas delivery system safe and reliable,” says a notice issued to customers.

While the road will remain open to the public, parking options may be limited during construction. A site foreman will be available to address parking issues during the project, National Grid says.

A police detail will also be provided if necessary.

National Grid says weather and ground conditions will determine when the street and sidewalk are permanently repaved.

On-site work hours will be 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday.

Residents with any questions on the project should call New England Community Investment Coordinator John Upham at 781-907-2206.
