Marco's Dishes Up Specialties: Crepes et Pizza

There's a new Italian restaurant on Route 1 along with a signature sports memorabilia shop.

Development along Route 1 in Peabody has been chugging along in recent months. One of the latest commercial projects to wrap up is a combination of retail space and a restaurant at 47 Newbury St. in front of SpringHill Suites.

The new eatery is Marco's Restaurant, which proudly declares its specialties of crepes and pizza as part of the name. The Italian restaurant opened Dec. 29 and is run by chef and Saugus resident Marco Stefanelli, who immigrated to the United States from Italy.

The menu covers lunch, dinner and dessert, and you can have different kind of crepes for all three. You can check out Marco's on Facebook and the official website here.

The Licensing Board granted the one available beer and wine restaurant license to Marco's last month and all that remains is for the state to sign off on the license as well.

The operating hours are 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m. - 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday and noon - 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Next door is Phil Castinetti's Sportsworld, which is also due to open soon. It's a sports memorabilia shop and says it's the largest shop of its kind in New England.

Castinetti first established the company in 1986 and has kept on expanding since then. You can check out the website here.

There are also two other commercial units in the building, one of which is vacant and other is slated for a specialty cabinetry and wood shop operated by Peter Alfe, who owns the property.

Attorney John Keilty said Alfe is considering opening his own restaurant in the fourth unit.
