International Clothing Store Plans Northshore Mall Opening

UNIQLO is opening six stores in the Greater Boston area.

International clothing store chain UNIQLO is opening six stores in the Greater Boston area over the next year, including one in the Northshore Mall.

The Northshore Mall location is scheduled to open on Sept. 19. Other locations opening this year are a pop-up shop in Faneuil Hall in Boston and locations at the Natick Mall, the Mall at Chestnut Hill and Legacy Place in Dedham. A flagship store on Newbury Street in Boston as well as a permanent location at Faneuil Hall are also on tap for 2015.

The chain, which currently has 20 stores in the U.S. and more than 1,300 across the world, is expected to open in other US markets, including Philadelphia, San Francisco, Connecticut, New Jersey and New York.

UNIQLO is a brand of Fast Retailing Co., Ltd., a Japanese retail holding company that designs, manufactures and sells clothing under seven main brands: Comptoir des Cotonniers, GU, Helmut Lang, J Brand, Princesse tam.tam, Theory, and UNIQLO.

The company had global sales of more than $11 billion in 2013. It sponsors top-ranked male professional tennis player Novak Djokovic.
