Frozen Yogurt Bars Popping Up Across Peabody

Two more self-serve FroYo bars getting ready to open on Lowell Street and Route 114 this spring.

At this rate, Peabody is going to have more frozen yogurt bars than ice cream parlors pretty soon.

Zinga! Peabody just opened last month at Newhall Crossing, offering numerous flavors and toppings (all self-serve) to health-conscious customers, and now Yo'Gut Style Frozen Yogurt plans to open May 1 at 515 Lowell St. in the same plaza with Home Decor and Perfecto's Caffe.

Fruitberry's was first to get in on the local FroYo scene, opening up at the Northshore Mall in 2011. And there's a fourth shop planning to open very soon on Route 114 next-door to Qdoba -- Frotopia.

As for Yo'Gut Style, which is the creation of Kevin McGoff and Fred Girolamo, it isn't part of a franchise company, unlike most of its competitors in the city and neighboring communities, and it's going to offer more than just hundreds of frozen yogurt combinations.

There will be a game room, vending machines, TVs and even an ATM, in addition to the yogurt bar and booths for seating.

As for the flavors unveiled so far, there's everything from blueberry pomegranate to chocolate malt and oatmeal cookie, and there will be college scholarships offered to Peabody High students.

Interior construction began at the end of March. You can find more details on the new store at the official website and on Facebook, where there are lots more pictures.

Over at Frotopia, no news yet for opening day, but we do know that there will be Greek frozen yogurt for customers. You can find more details here.
