If you love bratwurst, specialty smoked meats and cheeses, German chocolates and even beer, then you're going to love this news: Karl’s Sausage Kitchen & European Market is moving to Peabody later this summer.
The niche old world style market, which has been in business since 1958, is currently located on Route 1 North (142 Broadway) in Saugus, about four miles from where it will set up shop at 1 Bourbon St., just off the Lowell Street exit on Route 1. The new store will be situated between and .
Owners Bob and Anita Gokey officially announced the news recently via the Karl's Facebook page. The Gokeys say they are planning on moving the shop mid to late August over the course of a week, giving up their traditional summer vacation in order to relocate.
"At the new location we will have a larger retail store, and a small European café. We will serve grilled sausages (of course!), sandwiches, soup and other traditional German fare. We will also have a beer and wine license so you can enjoy your lunch or dinner with beer or Riesling," the Gokeys said.
