A Little Mesoamerica on Walnut Street

There's a new eatery slated to open sometime soon on Walnut Street.

There's a new restaurant slated to open up at the vacant space at 76 Walnut St. downtown.

According to a sign that's been posted in the window since the summer, Mesoamerica is opening there soon. The only indication given is that it will be a Mexican and Latin grill.

A building permit was issued by the city last winter to do some interior work, but the glass windows remain covered in newspaper for now. The building is located at the corner of Walnut and Harris streets.

The spot was most recently home to Cucina Italiana, a Brazilian and Italian fusion eatery, which had replaced a Brazilian bakery. The space has been empty now for about two years.
