The Afghan Group at Brooksby Village Knitting for Local Charities All Year Round
Peabody, MA – The Afghan Group at Brooksby Village knit all year round to help local shelters. Most recently they have been working with Transitions at Devens and HAWC in Salem.
“We make afghans all year round, said Roberta Gosselin, Brooksby Village resident. “The two shelters we are working with right now are shelters for abused women and children.”

“As a rule, the shelters don't want or need afghans during the summer, so we build up our 'reserves' so we can deliver them in groups of 20 during the cold weather,” said Gosselin. “Recently though, Bettie Loughhead, who also lives at Brooksby Village, connected with Family Promise in Beverly and a family there received one of our afghans when they moved on to permanent housing.”
There are 24 members in the Afghan Group at Brooksby Village and they meet every Tuesday to chat and knit together.
