As you may know, the Peabody Unit of the Club is an after-school drop-in program that takes place directly after school.  This program has been at Higgins Middle School since 2007, and has grown and improved each year.

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem-Peabody Unit will offer a wide variety of programs after each day from 2:35 pm to 6 pm. Some details include:

 •  Students who join will be members of the Club. Cost is $10 for the school year, which includes access to the Salem facility during school vacations.

 •   The staff at the Higgins will reflect a variety of grade level teachers, volunteers and non-teacher counselors.

 •   Programs will run every day that school is in session. The program will not be available on those days requiring teachers to be at department/faculty meetings; typically the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month. Students need to listen to the morning and afternoon announcements for details.

The program at Higgins Middle School provides a great "one on one" opportunity to get grade level homework assistance. Once students finish their homework, they have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of programs from sports in the gym and outside on school grounds - such as basketball - and games, in addition to tournaments in ping pong, pool and foosball, special event trips to the Salem Club and local access TV, arts & crafts, lectures and clinics from high school coaches, yoga, cooking, dance classes, holiday parties and music programs.

Our Mission: To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

The contact person at the Higgins Middle School is Mr. Fred Bruno, M.Ed., 6th grade science teacher, who has been with the program since its inception. He can be reached during school hours at 978-536-4860 and during program hours at 978-998-0006.
