Travolta at Denny's Filming Scene for 'The Forger'

A film production crew took over Denny's and part of the Econo Lodge (former Days Inn) on Endicott Street to film a scene for "The Forger."

John Travolta is in town.

Cast and crew members for a new film entitled "The Forger" are shooting a scene or two at Denny's and the Econo Lodge on Endicott Street.

According to a crew member at the scene, filming is just planned for Monday. The crew is also filming at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

According to a plot summary from the Internet Movie Database, the story is as follows: "A second generation petty thief arranges to get out of prison to spend time with his ailing son by taking on a job with his father to pay back the syndicate that arranged his release.

Christopher Plummer and Tye Sheridan also star in the film, which is slated for a 2014 release. The writer for "The Forger" is Richard D'Ovidio, a Medford native.

Danvers police officer Dana Michael Hagan, who was on detail at the site Monday, told Danvers Patch he actually got a picture with Travolta, although admittedly the last time he recalls seeing the Hollywood star on screen was 30 years ago in "Grease."

"He's a real regular guy," Hagan added.

Tracy Silveira, however, is a total fan. She was also outside Denny's Monday on her lunch break and got a picture with Travolta as well.

"It's like a dream come true," she said, on meeting Travolta. "I was nervous...I didn't know what to say," she added with a laugh.

The restaurant was closed to the public while filming was going on. The crew parked its vehicles and equipment in the rear lot at the the Liberty Tree Mall next to the police station for the day.

Denny's was also a production set for "The Heat" last summer, starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy.
