Peabody’s Population Increases Slightly

Peabody’s population increased by 1% between 2010 and 2013, according to new U.S. Census data that was released this week.

Peabody had 51,361 residents in 2010 and that number increased to 52,044 people in 2013.

The 1% figure is the same as the 1% median growth rate among Massachusetts communities that was reported by the Boston Business Journal, but well below the 10% population increase in Cohasset.

Communities near Peabody have also seen an influx of residents.

Neighboring Lynnfield saw a 7% increase, Danvers had a 4% increase, and Salem’s population increased by 2%. Lynn had a 1% increase.
