Peabody Summer Concert Series Kicks Off Next Week

The Peabody Summer Concert Series kicks off with Overdrive on Thursday, July 10 at the East End Veterans Memorial Park.

According to the City of Peabody website:

"Overdrive is an eight-piece band with a tight and incredibly funky rhythm section as the driving force behind a killer four-piece horn section that features two trumpets, woodwinds, and trombone. Dance music from the past three decades, music by Chicago, Tower of Power, the Average White Band, all the number one brass-rock hits, and a large selection of swing and songs from the Stax and Motown eras make up an exciting and exhausting performance."

The rest of the concert series will be held at The Leather City Common from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sundays. This year's performers play music from many different genres, including classic rock, The Beatles, swing and soul:

  • Sunday, July 13 -- Britannica -- classic rock band
  • Sunday, July 27 -- North Shore Accappella -- a unique blend of harmony, rhythm and tempo
  • Sunday, Aug. 3 -- Hip Shot -- classic R&B, Top 40 R&B, disco, soul, Motown, 80s rock and jazz
  • Sunday, Aug. 10 -- Studio 2 -- Beatles cover band
  • Sunday, Aug. 17 -- Beantown Swing Orchestra, featuring Mr. John Stevens
  • Sunday, Aug. 24 -- Horizon & the Horns, top hits of the 80s, 90s, 2000s and today
