'Peabody Pride' Cleanup Day is Coming

The third cleanup is planned in May.

Submitted by Mayor Edward A. Bettencourt, Jr.'s office:

Mayor Edward A. Bettencourt, Jr. is pleased to announce that this spring’s volunteer community cleanup effort will be held on Saturday, May 17 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

Volunteers are invited to City Hall at 9 a.m. to pick up their cleaning supplies and then fan out to targeted areas throughout the City. A pizza lunch will be served to all volunteers following the cleanup and everyone will go home with a commemorative Peabody Pride in Motion water bottle.

The cleanup effort continues Mayor Bettencourt’s Peabody Pride in Motion initiative designed to reignite citizen participation and community spirit.

“Last spring we had over 300 people come out and help improve the city they love,” Mayor Bettencourt said. “It is a great feeling to give something back to your community especially when the results – cleaner streets, sidewalks and parks – are on display for all to see.”

In the event of rain on May 17, the cleanup will be moved to Saturday, May 31. For further information or questions, please contact the Mayor’s Office at 978-538-5704.
