Peabody Doctor Honored by North Shore Medical Center

The Physician of Excellence Award is considered the highest honor among NSMC's medical staff and recognizes physicians who have made outstanding contributions to NSMC, the medical profession and the community.

North Shore Medical Center (NSMC) honored Ira K. Evans III, M.D., with the 2014 Physician of Excellence Award during a ceremony held at the Salem Country Club in Peabody on June 13. 

The Physician of Excellence Award is considered the highest honor among NSMC’s medical staff and recognizes physicians who have made outstanding contributions to NSMC, the medical profession and the community. Dr. Evans has earned the NSMC medical staff’s highest honor in recognition of his compassion and skill in caring for orthopedic patients on the North Shore.

Dr. Evans currently resides in Manchester-by-the-Sea MA. Dr. Evans attended medical school at Vanderbilt Medical School in Tennessee, followed by an internship at Hartford Hospital, a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Connecticut and a fellowship in sports medicine at the Orthopedics Specialty Clinic post graduate training in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dr. Evans also served in the department of orthopedic surgery with the United States Navy and was deployed to serve in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.

In his current practice at Sports Medicine North in Peabody, Dr. Evans specializes in complex knee problems and serves as a physician for many local sports teams on the North Shore. He is trained in the latest minimally invasive surgical techniques of the knee including ligament reconstruction, cartilage restoration and joint replacement surgery.
