Families Can Flock Downtown for 'Nightmare on Main Street'

More than 45 businesses downtown will be offering treats, prizes, raffles, ghoulish specials and more Tuesday to costumed trick-or-treaters and their parents.

Are you ready for the "Nightmare on Main Street?" No, it has nothing to do with the traffic...at least directly. The Peabody Downtown Association has organized a night of family-friendly trick-or-treating at Main Street businesses on Tuesday.

Organizers say it's a tradition that has lapsed for the past 30 years when costumed children used to flock to downtown shops for Halloween candy, but it's back now by popular demand.

More than 45 businesses will welcome in families for treats, prizes, raffles, photo opportunities and some ghoulish specials between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. (Download the attached .PDF for the full list of businesses)

The Peabody Downtown Association also reminds parents and kids to trick-or-treat safely, stay on the sidewalks and make sure to use the crosswalks when crossing the street.
