5 Things You Need to Know Today, Dec. 19

Christmas is almost here!

Today is Wednesday, Dec. 19. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

  1. Mayor Ted Bettencourt will hold a press conference this afternoon in which he'll be lending his support to the Peabody Fire and Police Memorial Fund. Stay tuned for more details.
  2. Thirty-five Girl Scouts from Peabody will be singing Christmas carols this afternoon (3 p.m.) at Brooksby Village.
  3. Students from Stage One, the PVMHS Drama Club, recently raised $500 for the Hurricane Sandy relief effort during their November performances of Michael Frayn's "Noises Off!"
  4. Santa and Frosty will be over in Danvers today at the McDonald's on High Street from 5-8 p.m. Fun activities for the kids include a coloring contest, ornament making and face-painting. Fifteen percent of sales will be donated to Danvers Family Festival.
