5 Things to Know: Taxes, Taxes, Taxes

The City Council will hold a special session with city finance officials Tuesday to set the new tax rates in Peabody.

Today is Monday, Dec. 10. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

  1. The Peabody Veterans Memorial High School Band is holding a fundraiser tonight down at Fuddrucker's in Saugus.
  2. The City Council meets with Mayor Ted Bettencourt and city finance officials tomorrow night to set the new tax rates. The hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. at City Hall.
  3. And across town, the School Committee meets with its Student Advisory Committee at 7 p.m., followed by the regular session at the Kiley School.
  4. Need a job? The city of Peabody is hiring, from a part-time nurse to basketball referees for the elementary league run by the Recreation Department. Head over to the city's website and click the Job Openings link on the right side of the page.
  5. Coming up on Wednesday is the Menorah Lighting and Hanukkah Party at the Northshore Mall. The event runs from 4:30-6 p.m. and it's free.
