5 Things to Know: Basketball, Free Flu Shots and More

The Health Department is offering free flu shots to residents by appointment this Thursday, meanwhile the Tanners' basketball season starts Friday.

Today is Tuesday, Dec. 11. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

  1. LifeLife Ambulance, which is based out of Woburn and has a branch in Peabody, says it's launching a charitable foundation to benefit children's causes, healthcare issues and education. The plan was revealed recently at a sixth anniversary celebration for the company. You can find out more information here.
  2. The City Council meets with Mayor Ted Bettencourt and city finance officials tonight to set the new tax rates. The hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. at City Hall.
  3. The Peabody Health Department will be offering free flu shots this Thursday and again Dec. 20. Vaccinations are available by appointment only for residents 10 and older. Call the Health Department at 978-538-5926.
  4. Peabody High basketball gets the season underway Friday against Salem with the boys hosting the Witches while the girls' team hits the road. Both games are at 7 p.m.
  5. The deadline to enter our 2nd Annual Deck the House Contest is Dec. 16. Remember, you could win $100,000 for the Peabody Public Schools as well as up to $500 off your home electric bill.
