YMCA OF METRO NORTH KICKS-OFF 2014 ANNUAL FUND CAMPAIGN WITH FREE EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES FOR MEMBERS MARCH 23rd – APRIL 6th The Y, It's So Much More

The YMCA of Metro North is changing lives for the better every day in the communities it serves.  Your local Y may be the place where you go to swim or workout, but the Y is so much more. For many of the more than 61,000 people in the communities of Lynn, Lynnfield, Melrose, Nahant, Peabody, Revere, Saugus and Stoneham who participate in YMCA of Metro North programs, the Y is a second home. The Y is a place where children learn and thrive, where neighbors come together to get healthy and strong and where innovative programs are helping members live a better life.  But not everyone who could benefit from Y programs and services has the means to pay for them and the YMCA of Metro North will never turn anyone away due to an inability to pay.

In 2013, the YMCA of Metro North provided over $1.2 million in scholarship support to the community. The YMCA of Metro North is only able to assist those most in need because of the many businesses and individuals who support the Y’s mission by making a gift to the Annual Fund.

“Giving to the YMCA of Metro North Annual Fund is really making an investment in your community,” said Kathleen Walsh, YMCA of Metro North Vice President of Development. “The money raised stays in the community helping your friends and neighbors participate in life-changing Y programs and services.”

This year the YMCA of Metro North must raise a total of $1,100,000 to provide scholarships and financial assistance. To kick-off the 2014 campaign, the YMCA of Metro North is hosting Member Donor Weeks from March 23rd to April 6th at all branch locations. Members will have a chance to share “Y You Care” and participate in fun events and activities.

The YMCA of Metro North, formally the Greater Lynn YMCA, is one of the oldest YMCA’s in the country. The YMCA of Metro North programs strengthen the foundations of community, enhance youth development, promote healthy living and foster a sense of social responsibility. The YMCA of Metro North encompasses four different branch locations (Lynn Y, Melrose Family Y, Saugus Family Y, and Torigian Family Y) as well as two additional NAEYC accredited child care facilities in Melrose and Stoneham and next month will open a new state-of-the-art gymnastics center in Saugus.

The Y is so much more than a place to work out. The Y is changing lives and strengthening communities. For more information on YMCA of Metro North member Donor Week activities or to make a donation to the Annual Fund, check with your local Y or visit http://ymcametronorth.org/give/.
