Peabody Teacher Leads Exchange Students to Argentina

Marian Basin of Peabody and Chris Rakovec of Brighton, Spanish teachers at Boston College High School, accompanied 10 BC High students to Argentina on June 10 for a four week academic exchange program with Colegio del Salvador, an all-boys Jesuit, Catholic school in Buenos Aires..

During their stay, the boys lived with host families, participated in class room instruction and cultural activities and traveled in and around the City of Buenos Aires. Marian introduced the BC High group to the Café Tortoni, one of the oldest cafes in South America, which opened in 1858 and has been a gathering place for famous writers, musicians, and politicians. A highlight of the program was the visit to the famous Iguazu water falls and the 17th century Jesuit reductions in the northern region of Argentina.

The Hyde Center for Global Education strives to offer programming that supplements and enhances the BC High classroom experience. To learn more about the power of a global experience or other program offerings visit www.bchigh.edu/hydecenter
