School Board Slated to Review Superintendent's Evaluation

Here's what you need to know today in Peabody.

Today is Tuesday, Nov. 26. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

  1. The School Committee meets Tuesday night for its regular session at the Kiley School (7:30 p.m.). Among the items on the agenda is the superintendent's evaluation. The discussion was postponed for the past few meetings, but Mayor Ted Bettencourt, who chairs the committee, expects it to be reviewed Tuesday night. Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical School Superintendent Dan O'Connell and regional school board member Leonard Bonfanti are also scheduled to make a presentation on the new regional voke school.
  2. Meanwhile, the annual ecumenical Thanksgiving service is being held this year over at South Congregational Church (7 p.m.) on Tuesday.
  3. City Hall, all branches of the public library and other city offices will be closed both Thursday and Friday this week.
  4. The annual Thanksgiving Day game between Peabody and Saugus is down in Saugus (10 a.m.) and Bishop Fenwick hosts Pingree this year (10 a.m.) to continue the rivalry.
  5. Operation Troop Support needs some extra hands Saturday when it puts addresses on those thousands of Christmas packages volunteers have spent time wrapping and brings them over to the Danvers Post Office for shipment overseas. The day begins at 9 a.m. at the VFW Hall at 5 Conant St. in Danvers. Stop down if you'd like to help out and volunteer.
